More information about Blue Lock

Blue Lock is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Muneyuki Kaneshiro. Kodansha’s Weekly Shnen magazine has been serializing it since August 2018. By 2022, an anime-based television series will be available on Netflix.

Jinpachi Ego is hired to coach the Japan World Cup after the Japan Football Association considers the current state of Japanese football. Japan, according to Jinpachi, does not have an aggressive striker who scores goals. So he created Blue Lock, a prison-like facility where three hundred talented attackers from high schools across Japan are isolated and pitted against each other. The sole survivor of Blue Lock will win the right to be the forward of the national team, and those who lose will be permanently banned from the team.

Yoichi Isagi, a forward who failed to lead his high school soccer team to the national tournament, has been selected to join this risky project. Instead of scoring himself, he passed the ball to a teammate who missed it, leaving him wondering if the outcome would have been different if it had been more selfish. The Blue Lock project offers Yoichi a golden opportunity to discover himself. He wants to become the best striker in the world and lead Japan to World Cup glory.
